Frequently Asked Questions (click on question to go to relevant Paragraph)

1. Will hypnosis work for me?

Hypnosis can work for virtually anyone ,but no one can be hypnotised against their will!
So, most people can easily achieve successful results using hypnosis. All you need to do is simply have the motivation and desire to make a positive change. With a little work, a good therapist, and a client who wishes to make changes and is motivated, we will be able to achieve success.

2. What does it feel like to be hypnotised?

Although it feels different to different people, hypnosis can feel a bit like reaching that stage between waking and sleeping. Relaxation with heightened concentration at the same time. You will feel safe and relaxed .It can sometimes feel a bit like daydreaming.. then, at other times, being aware of being carefully guided by the therapist’s voice. What is certainly noticeable is the changes that can take place in your everyday life!

3. Is it safe?

Absolutely! Therapeutic Hypnosis cannot take away your willpower or control your mind, nor can you get “stuck” in hypnosis. It can simply get you very relaxed, open communications to your subconscious and empower you to take control to bring about the changes that you want. And that’s good, isn’t it?

4. Will I be made to do or tell something I don’t want to, under hypnosis?

No. Hypnotherapy is all about you having more control of your own mind. Not only am I bound by a strict Code of Conduct to ensure confidentiality, appropriateness of treatment and respect at all times, but your privacy is your choice! You are always in control in Hypnotherapy and cannot be made to do anything that is against your will, or is not within you to do.

5. Are there any side effects?

Only positive ones! You may well sleep better, feel more relaxed and able to make important changes in your everyday life.

You will ,for example, easily learn to use self hypnosis - which only takes a few minutes each day and helps to maintain those important changes. Preparing yourself for change is also very important. Take some time beforehand to think about :How will my life be better? What would that look like or feel like to me? Change can happen quicker if you can imagine what is possible!

7. How long do sessions last?

Usually about an hour.

8. Will I need to do anything between sessions?

effects of hypnotherapy, e.g. a CD to listen to or small activities to
complete.

9. Should I stop having medical treatmnet or taking pills?

with the medication and reduce its necessity.
